Weird Stuff

Driving back to South Carolina, I saw some interesting stuff that I thought I would share.

  • Ashtrays in bathroom stalls of gas stations. Now, I'm not a smoker, so maybe someone can enlighten me here. But is the need or addiction so much that you have to smoke while on the can? The majority of these ashtrays, set right next to the toilet paper dispenser, had ashes on them or in them. I find this very bizarre.

  • I passed the largest cross I have ever seen in my life. It was right off the interstate. My guestimate was it was probably about 20 feet tall. Then, about 20 feet away, there was a huge Adult Store, about the size of a walmart (before the supercenters). I had to laugh! Nothing like some intimidation while walking in to buy/view your porn.

  • It wasn't much further, while driving down a curvy mountain, that a van was swaying into my lane. There were only 2 narrow lanes. On the left side was the concrete median (where I was) and on the right was the guard rail blocking the edge of the mountain. This van kept swaying a couple of times into my lane, and I couldn't pass him because of some grandpa in front of me. So I beeped my horn and the guy jerked into his lane and all of a sudden, I see this girls head pop up out of no where in his van. I don't think I need to go any further.

  • And then I possibly saw Ogre towing his llamas. (Picture is a little blurry as he was speeding down the mountain)

    Nothing like keeping me entertained on my 830 mile drive home...75% of it rain!! And, I must say, I was quite impressed with my 12 hour time! I was ready to get back to the south!

    The toilet is a perfect place for a cigarette - you'll be undisturbed for several minutes, and you don't have to annoy the non-smokers in your car.

    Glad you made it back safely. I'm not sure I would want to take the time to smoke in those nasty bathrooms. How can you hover over the toilet - trying not to touch anything and smoke?

    I know EXACTLY where your "Porn Superstore" is. You were on I 75 about forty miles North of Knoxville, TN. (BTW, that cross is more like 60 feet tall.) I understand that "Truckers" are also welcome there. (We have a service contract on an elevator in a motel at the same exit.)

    Sorry I was swerving my van. I was... distracted. ;^)
